Executive Board

The Executive Board is responsible for:

  • developing and delivering plans to reflect the long-term objectives and priorities established by the Board of Forestry Commissioners

  • The EB will direct change programmes towards the sustainable growth and operation of the Forestry Commission, taking account of and incorporating cross-government objectives, in order to enhance the FC’s ability to deliver front-line services to the public.
  • overseeing the day-to-day management and direction of the Forestry Commission

The EB will work together as a team to provide strategic leadership to staff, ensure the organisation’s fitness for purpose, and set the values and standards for the Forestry Commission. It will resolve issues between parts of the organisation, prioritising and balancing resources.

  • monitoring performance to ensure that the Forestry Commission is properly and effectively managed 

The EB will safeguard propriety, economy, efficiency and effectiveness in its operation and manage risk through a framework of prudent and effective controls. It will set targets for, and monitor the performance of, Forest Research.

  • ensuring effective communication

The EB will ensure that our external communications provide focused and consistent messages and will provide a clear and compelling sense of purpose internally. 

The Executive Board meets six times per year. It has eight members and is chaired by the Director General who is also Director England. The other members are the Country Directors for Scotland and Wales, Chief Executive of Forest Research, Directors Finance, Business Units and Human Resources and the Secretary to the Forestry Commissioners.
