Figure 8.1 is a line chart showing the coniferous standing sales and sawlog price indices since 1985 (period ending March). The index base of 100 is at September 2011. 

It shows that the real price of coniferous standing timber has generally declined from 1987 to 2003 before rising slightly by 2008. A small decrease between 2008 and 2009 has then been followed by an overall increase for most recent years.

Real prices of coniferous sawlogs have remained more stable, but have also shown a general downward trend over most of the time period. The index has been relatively stable in recent years.
