Other government expenditure on forestry

Table 8.5 provides information on other expenditure (excluding public forests) by the Forestry Commission, it includes expenditure by National Offices in England, Wales and Scotland as well as expenditure on GB level functions. Expenditure on land that is owned or managed by the Forestry Commission is covered in Table 8.4.

In addition to expenditure on public forests, the Forestry Commission spent a total of £135 million on other activities in 2012-13, an increase of £2 million (2%) from the previous year.

£83 million was used by the national offices in each country for grants and partnership funding (an increase of 1% on the 2011-12 total) and a further £27 million for policy, regulation & administration (a 4% rise). At a GB level, £34 million was used for international & GB support services (up 2%) and £13 million for research (down 17%).
