Figure 9.3 is a bar chart showing the countries with changes in forest area of at least 0.4 million hectares per year between 2000 and 2010. The countries are listed in order of the size of annual change, in millions of hectares per year:

  • Brazil (minus 2.6 million hectares)
  • Australia (minus 0.6 million hectares)
  • Indonesia (minus 0.5 million hectares)
  • Nigeria (minus 0.4 million hectares)
  • Tanzania (minus 0.4 million hectares) and
  • China (plus 3.0 million hectares).
