Figure 9.4 is a stacked bar chart showing the global carbon stock per hectare in forest biomass by region in 2010.  The bar chart shows carbon from soil, dead wood and litter, and in living biomass.  The region with the most carbon stock per hectare is South America with over 200 tonnes of carbon per hectare in total.  South America and Africa have the highest levels of carbon in living biomass, whilst Europe has the highest level of carbon in soils.
