On the 7th July 2011 Forestry Commission Wales Woodlands for Learning Team welcomed four secondary schools from Rhondda Cynon Taff and Cardiff to their visitor centre at Garwnant.
Team Leader, Sue Williams welcomed the delegates from Y Pant Comprehensive, Hawthorn High, Cantonian High and Pontypridd High, to the conference, the theme of which was raising awareness of forestry, its related industries and the careers available within the sector.
The conference aimed to promote the forestry industry as an attractive career choice.
Delegates took part in a variety of workshops covering a range of subject areas including; wild life management, woodland planning, green wood working, arboraculture and event management.
