Christmas lunch (Fronoleu Hotel, Dolgellau) - 5th December

On Friday the 5th of December 40 members, partners and friends met at Fronoleu Hotel Restaurant at Tabor near Dolgellau for our Christmas lunch. Our Christmas event is always a little early in the season but it is great to beat the rush and have a Christmas dinner before we suffer from Turkey overload because we have been to so many dinners.

As always we arrived early and spent time renewing acquaintances and enjoying a cup of coffee or tea. Some members are unable to attend the field visits throughout the year because of the walking involved but they always make a good effort to attend this event.

We then enjoyed a three course meal followed by tea or coffee and mince pies.

Afterwards we had the season’s greetings and a relevant light hearted story from our Chairman Chris Griffiths. He also updated us on the national events, both from 2008 and about the National AGM location for 2009. This was followed by Ken Searson, our new treasurer updating us with the financial information. Ken told us that he is still using black ink and not the red ink.

This was followed by Chris introducing our guest for the dinner. Clare Lewis from National Office had accepted our invitation to join us. Clare updated us on the FC news from 2008 and mentioned a little of what the future is holding. She then started the raffle and was surprised at the generous number of prizes that had been donated.

Finally Chris thanked Clare for coming and talking to us, thanked everybody who had worked so hard for arranging yet another successful event. Finally of course he thanked the raffle organisers for once again arranging such a good raffle which of course is a major fund raiser. Chris thanked the hotel for looking after us so well.

The committee hope to see as many as possible at the field events in 2009. The short list has been arranged and the dates and locations of the 2009 events will be posted on the web site in early April.
