Growing Adventures in Basing Wood

‘Growing Adventures in Basing Wood’ is an exciting £50K project to increase play opportunities in Basing Wood also known as Carpenters Down. The project is part of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s ‘Promoting Positive Play Opportunities For All’ portfolio.Children running on a path through bluebells

Projects aim:

“To increase the play value of formal and informal play activities already taking place in Basing Wood”

Project Outcomes:

Developing facilities in Basing Wood to provide a richer play experience through exploration and growth.

Providing play facilities for children with a wide age range, that have features that appeal to children with a range of abilities and is situated on the urban fringe.
Provide facilities specifically designed with and for 11 to 16 year old children.
There has been great support from the local community for this project and initial consultation resulted in many ideas to consider including a downhill bmx track, a parkour course, children’s play structures and even a woodland maze! 

Basing Wood is also part of the Sense and Motion Project, which includes a programme of free woodland activities and events.
