MAINTAIN THE HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE FOR THE LARDER RECORDING SYSTEM WHICH MANAGES DETAILS OF CARCASSES AT WILDLIFE LARDERS THROUGHOUT GREAT BRITAIN
EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

The Forestry Commission (FC) manages approximately one million hectares of land.  From this area it processes approximately 40,000 carcasses per year, mainly deer.  These carcasses are brought to one of the approximately 60 deer larders scattered throughout the country.  When they arrive at the larder, the carcasses are weighed using scales which may transfer this data directly into the larder recording system; other information is input by the user and then the system prints labels that are attached to the carcass.  All details are automatically uploaded to the FC Wildlife Management System overnight.  When the carcasses are collected from the larders, the purchasers who have access to the system are able to simply scan the carcass labels to capture these details.

This contract will include the maintenance of all hardware: 60 electronic scales requiring annual testing, 60 scanners and associated base stations, and 60 tag printers.  It also includes maintenance of the existing software that manages the data and the data transfer to the FC Wildlife Management System, and will include any enhancements to the system asked for by FC.  Support will initially be by telephone, but will include replacement hardware and/or an engineer on-site within 24 hours of report if necessary.

The estimated total value of the contract is £20,000.

The anticipated contract start date will be 1st April 2013 and will finish 31st March 2014.

For further enquiries regarding this contract and to express your interest please contact David Johnson david.johnson@forestry.gsi.gov.uk on 07767 233989 no later than 17th February 2012.
