Thetford Forest Park cycle trail development

We are currently working to develop our cycle network within Thetford Forest Park.

Our aim is to create nationally recognised trails that range from fast flowing single track with some technical features to comfortable family routes.

Our objectives are

  • To make the best use of the Topography offered within the forest.
  • To link destinations to provide exciting and challenging rides.
  • To ensure minimla environmental impact on the surrounding area, to maintain a natural feel to all trails.
  • To make optimum use of the space and forest available.
  • To ensure the trails are safe whilst being exciting and challenging to use.
  • To work with partners and stakeholders to meet expectations.
  • To make best use of existing resources and be ready to take advantage of opportunities as they arise.

OGB37 - Cycle Trail Management

  • Sets out the standard by which all Forestry commission cycle trails should be managed.
  • Launched on 24 September 2008, we are assessing the local requirements and creating an action plan to ensure our current trails meet these requirements.
  • All future developments will be undertaken in line with these guidelines.
