Rogie

Rogie Township is an abandoned settlement in the middle of Torrachilty forest. Today only ruins and memories remain - it can be hard to imagine that it was once a busy place with many families living here.

Matt Ritchie, Forestry Commission Scotland's Archeologist, provides a brief introduction to the site in the clip below. There are other clips on the what is here today page.

Forestry Commission Scotland is working with the North of Scotland Archaeological Society and the Workers Educational Association with ongoing investigation into the site.  A family cycle trail to this area is also planned.

Our thanks to the North of Scotland Archaeological Society, who have worked with us to enable this information to be presented.

Further information about Rogie township is available from an archive which is lodged at Dingwall library.
