England's Northwest has one of the most diverse environmental landscapes in the country.
Stunning National Parks, habitat-rich areas of outstanding natural beauty and thriving timber and 'green tourism' industries juxtapose with the highest proportion of derelict land in the country, a sector-wide skills shortage and regional health that could be substantially improved.
Trees and woodlands play a huge role in the Northwest region - enhancing image, health and well being, maximising the quality of environments and fuelling a profitable timber industry.
Northwest Regional Forestry Framework
A common sense, joined up approach to the woodlands of England's Northwest will ensure that they make an unrivalled impact on every aspect of the region. That approach will be an Agenda for Growth; the Northwest Regional Forestry Framework.
The Agenda for Growth', published in 2005, will help shape the woodland and forestry sector in the North West of England for the next 20 years. There are 6 action areas;
