Always worth getting your grant claim in to us ahead of the approval year in your contract, as we often pay our grants early if there is available funding due to others dropping out.
ALL English Woodland Grant Scheme grants are open for new applications
- We are accepting applications for grant for up to 5 years ahead apart from Regeneration Grants which are limited to two years.
- Creating a New Woods - If you want grant to plant a new wood and it scores at least 10 points using the South East England’s scoring form Pdf 105 Kb (guide Pdf 1.2 Mb) get your applications in to us now.
- 20 year Woodland Management Plans – available for woodland holdings of more then 3 hectares and are well worth doing if you own woodland of 10 hectares or more. Owners with more than 30ha of woodland who want to receive Woodland Management Grant (WMG) or Higher Level Stewardship from Natural England are definitely required to have a plan. We offer a grant towards writing the plans and can help you through the process.
- Plans now come with 10 years felling approvals once approved which is well worth having as there is flexibility within the plan to play the markets and fell the trees when the right price can be made without having to reapply for a felling approval (provided the plan is still current).
NEW GRANTS are available for improving vehicular access within your woodland to make the harvesting easier, less damaging, more cost effective and sustainable. For more information view the Woodfuel WIG Pages.
Land Registration:
- All areas within England Woodland Grant Scheme applications MUST be registered with the Rural Land Registry (RLR). Please refer to Customer Land Registration .
- To avoid delays please make sure you follow up any applications you make to the RLR if you have not heard from them within 28 days of applying. Receiving a Single Business Identifier (SBI) number is only part of the registration process. We must receive confirmation from you that your land holding has been registered on the RLR before we can accept an EWGS application.
