
Events at HWPP
Over the 2012 season we are running a series of events. No booking required and all childre to be accompanied by an adult:
- Sunday 7th May - Practical Recycling for Benefit of Wildlife. Looking at some of our plastic and household waste and how it can be made into handy bird feeders and beetle homes. 2-4pm. Cost £2 per person, suitable for all ages.
- Tuesday 3rd July - Nature's pallet. Make your own paint and piant brushes. Also try making greenwood men and pictures on the ground or in the trees by collecting different coloured items to bring them them to life. 10am - 12 noon. £2 per child, suitable for all ages.
- Tuesday 10th July - Sensory Explosion. Testing your senses. We have five - sight, sound, taste, touch and smell. On this interactive walk with wildlife, we'll be working with three of these only - sight, touch and smell. 2-4pm. £2 per child, suitable for all ages.
- Tuesday 17th July - Hunt the Bin Mini Beast. A fun morning for all budding beastie explorers! Come and discover what lurks beneath your feet. Bring along a small plastic tub to examine your beasties. 10am - 12 noon. £2 per child, suitable for all ages.
- Tuesday 24th July - Can you follow the clues? This is all about orienterering and following trails - but with a twist. 2-4pm. £2 per person, suitable for all ages including adults.
- Tuesday 31st July - Teddy Bears Safari. If you go down to the woods today, remember to bring your teddy and a picnic! Follow the trails, sing a song, listen to some story telling. A fun event for younger children. 10am - 12 noon. £2 per child, suitable for 3-7 year olds.
- Tuesday 7th August - Creative Dens. Be creative in building a shelter in the forest. How thorough can you be at making sure it is waterporoof? Watch out because it might just be tested out! 2-4pm. £2 per person, suitable for all ages including adults.
Group bookings
We welcome group bookings and can put together a programme to meet your individual needs. Advance booking for groups is required. We also run events throughout the season.
Examples of groups who visit us:
- Schools - from nursery to secondary;
- After school groups such as brownies, cubs and youth groups; and
- Specialist interest groups.
School groups
We work with teachers to meet the needs of the Curriculum for Excellence, providing a range of activities such as:

games;
- pond/ stream dipping;
- environmental art;
- discovering senses;
- orienteering;
- problem solving, and many more.
