Our Environmental Policy

Our mission is to protect and expand Britain’s forests and woodlands and increase their value to society and the environment. We deliver the distinct forestry policies of England, Scotland and Wales through specific objectives drawn from the country forestry strategies and support Government-led initiatives in reducing the impacts of climate change. We will encourage best environmental practice in managing our woodland estate and through all our business activities.

Specifically we will:

  1. Comply with relevant environmental legislation and regulations.
  2. Adopt and maintain the UK Woodlands Assurance Standard.
  3. Implement ISO14001 Environmental Management System in all parts of ourbusiness.
  4. Monitor and reduce our consumption of energy and water.
  5. Reduce our production of waste and promote recycling and recovery.
  6. Reduce our business travel and promote alternative means of communication.
  7. Reduce our use of harmful materials, and prevent pollution.
  8. Where practical, buy goods and services from sustainable sources and encourageour suppliers and contractors to improve their environmental performance.
  9. Promote environmental awareness in our staff and stakeholders through thedevelopment of training and communications programmes.
  10. Monitor and review progress against internal and Government targets andpursue continuous improvement through audits and management reviews.
