For our youngest visitors there's a lot of fun to be had while exploring the forest and discovering its hidden secrets. Time out in the woods is combined with story telling, crafts, songs and games in the Forest Classroom so there's plenty of variety to keep children interested. Seasonal topics are incorporated into our programmes, especially in spring and autumn, to keep them lively and relevant and make the best use of the forest resource.
Babes in the Wood is for toddlers aged between 12 months and 2 years 6 months and their carers. It runs for an hour and a half and is an introduction to the learning resources of the forest for both adults and children. Each session has a theme and involves a walk in the woods and games, songs, craft and stories. It's great fun!

Little Explorers very like Babes in the Wood but for slightly older children. 3 to 4 year
olds and their accompanying adults explore the woods and take part in activities indoors and out specially planned to suit this age group. Welcome to the Woods is our EYFS programme for pre-school children and is suitable for children aged from 2yrs. 9 months to 4 years. The precise content is tailored to the age of the children but normally includes a story, activities in the woods and some art and craft in the classroom. The art and craft can be omitted for older children who will benefit from more time being spent outdoors. It lasts for two hours, normally from 10am to 12 noon. During the summer, if a picnic is planned as part of the visit, teddy bears can come, too.
Super Sensations is for children in their Reception year and for older
children in Primary School. Activities encourage children to make full use of their senses (excluding taste!) to learn about the forest. The outdoor activities are very similar to those in the Welcome to the Woods programme but the introduction does not include a story and the remainder of the visit is spent outdoors unless there is a special request for a craft activity. There are numerous activities available to us which we combine into a programme to meet your learning objectives, for either a half day (normally 10am to 12 noon) or a full day (10am to approximately 2.30pm).
