As part of the first consultation on the review of the Scottish Forestry Strategy, a series of public meetings was held. The meetings were advertised in the press and local Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) staff also notified a range of interested parties.
The objective of the meetings was to review what had gone well/not gone well since the first Forestry Strategy was published in 2000 and to hear what people now thought were the really important issues in Scottish forestry.

Feedback from these public meetings, together with responses to the consultation paper and a number of one-to-one discussions, helped FCS to re-draft the Scottish Forestry Strategy. A second round of public consultation also took place from March to May 2006.
