Join the rangers for woodland arts and crafts in the classroom. Have a go at making pinecone bird feeders, wooden pencil holders and more besides.
£5 per child.
Thursday 16th February 2012 & Sunday 18th March 2012 Willow Weaving for Beginners 10am-3pm
Learn the art of living willow weaving and create your own living sculpture.

Nothing too big or too small as long as you can fit it in the car or van to get it home and there is enough willow for all!
Last years' creations include a sheep as big as a man, a scared cat, a ladybird and a massive butterlfy.
Learn how to plan your sculptures and tie it all together to create a wonderful living piece.
£25 per person. Children can attend with prior arrangement with the course leader.
March 31st - April 1st Rustic Furniture Making Course 10am - 3pm
10am - 3pm each day or why not make a weekend of it and spend the night in the peaceful woods?
Join the Jolly Bodgers of Sherwood to learn the skills and techniques of the traditional wood worker. Learn how to use a variety of tools, including the draw knife and shave horse, to create your own rustic stool or chair to take away.
All tools, materials and refreshments will be provided - you just need to bring your enthusiasm and lunch for the Saturday. Lunch on Sunday will be cooked for you over the camp fire.
For those who want to get away from it all, why not spend the whole weekend in the woods? Bring your tent and a warm sleeping bag and be treated to freshly baked pizzas from our wood-fired, clay oven and a campfire breakfast.

2nd April Springtime Forest Fun. 10am - 12 noon
Join the rangers to celebrate the joys of Spring. Enjoy springtime games, craft activities and stories on this short walk around the woods. £5 per person
3rd April Bushcraft for Families. 10am - 3pm
Join the rangers for a day of bushcraft activities. Learn shelter building and fire lighting techniques. Cook some snacks on the fire have a go at a forest craft. £10 per person, Children must be 6+
May 5th Willow Basket Weaving Course 10am - 5pm
Spend the day around the campfire learning the timeless craft of basketry. This course has been designed to guide total beginners, step by step, through each stage of the basket weaving process.
Participants will leave with their own finished small to medium, round basket.
Providing the weather is fine the course will take place deep in the woods and participants will be treated to fresh pizza from the wood fired clay oven. Otherwise the course will take place in the large forest classroom.
Adults only. Places limited so book early to avoid disappointment £45.
May 26th Food for Free 11am - 3:30pm
Back by popular demand. Join expert, Patrick Harding, for illustrated talks and forest forays to learn how to identify edible and medicinal plants. From sorrel soup to nuts in may; from skin creams to digestive remedies - we will learn that plants have so much to offer.
Refreshments provided. Not suitable for under 12s. 16s and under must be accompanied. £25
All children must be accompanied by an adult unless otherwise stated.
Payment required in advance and is non-refundable unless the Forestry Commission cancel the event due to bad weather or staff sickness.
