Tree Health Division
 

This science division leads and develops the pathology and entomology research within Forest Research along with the related statutory and advisory work.

Research and monitoring work is undertaken of established pests and diseases (Hylobius, Dendroctonus, Phytophthora and Dothistroma) and there is close working on control with other parts of the Forestry Commission, in particular Plant Health and with Defra, the EU and European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organisation (EPPO).

Work is also performed on the risk from and prevention of new and exotic pathogens and insects and the division has responsibility for the UK and EU level 1 Forest Health monitoring programme and advisory work.
