Forestry Commission publication scheme

Class:UK Forestry Standard

Documents:Published Standard and Supporting Guidelines

Relates to:England, Scotland, Wales, GB, International

Description:The UKFS sets out the criteria and standards for the sustainable management of all forests and woodlands in the UK. It is the centrepiece of a system to guide and monitor forestry.

The Standard is linked to the developing international protocols for sustainable forestry. Guidelines are strategic documents that set out the environmental principles and standards required by the Government to meet the needs of sustainable forest management.

These Standards form a code of practice employed by the Forestry Commission in its own forests, and are required in private forestry receiving aid from the Woodland Grant Scheme or Scottish Forestry Grant Scheme. They contain guidance in areas crucial to sustainability and expand on the criteria for sustainable forest management set out in the UKFS.
