ASCOCHYTA PINIPERDA . 1 year old seedlings of Pinus contorta showing browning and drooping of the foliage and the numerous pycnidia on needles and shoots .This case is of some interest as prior to 1958 the fungus was not recorded on a host other than Norway spruce . In 1958 serious losses occurred in nursery stock in five areas in north and east Scotland . Only inland provenances were involved . Location: Inchnacardoch Forest , Highlands , Scotland .
