SCOTS PINESEinig Native pinewood is one of the most northerly native pinewood remnants. There are just over 300 ancient pine scattered along the south of the River Einig and up the Allt nam Caisen burn. The pinewood has recently been restored and carpets of young birch and thickets of older birch now fill the matrix between the scattered older pine. Einig is a good place to see red deer, greater spotted woodpecker, wood ants and a wide variety of insect species characteristic of native pinewoods
