About Forests of Moray and Aberdeenshire

Welcome to the forests of Moray and Aberdeenshire - a huge area with different types of woodland for you to explore!

Our area includes the whole of NE Scotland from Elgin in the north west to Laurencekirk in the south east. We also have forests on Royal Deeside up as far as Braemar.

Visit the coastal woods along the Moray Firth, the wonderful and majestic mountain of Bennachie with its surrounding forest, the peaceful pinewoods of Upper Deeside or the busy city woods round Aberdeen.

Where else in the country can you get such variety! Whether you are a walker, mountain biker or horse rider, we have trails for you.

Which towns are the forests near?

Elgin - Ben Aigan, Culbin, Lossie, Monaughty, Ordiequish, Quarrelwood, Roseisle, Whiteash.

Aberdeen - Countesswells & Foggieton, Kirkhill, Tyrebagger.

Inverurie - Bennachie, Pitfichie.

Huntly/ Keith - Balloch & Dunnyduff, Clashindarroch, The Bin.

Stonehaven - Dunnottar.

Banchory/ Ballater (Deeside) - Scotly, Cambus O'May.

How to get there:

Aberdeen, Huntly, Keith, Fochabers, Elgin, Forres, and Nairn are the nearest towns or villages.

By car

There is a good road network throughout the north east of Scotland. The A96 runs from Aberdeen to Elgin via Huntly. The A93 goes from Aberdeen west towards Braemar beside the River Dee. The A90 comes north from Laurencekirk to Aberdeen along the east coast.

By train

There is a main train line from Edinburgh or Glasgow to Aberdeen. From there you can travel to Huntly and Elgin.

By Bus

There is a good bus link along the main roads listed above with bus stops beside some of our forests

By bike

There is a good network of suitable cycle routes in the north east. Some of the long distance routes through the area can be cycled, including the Deeside and Speyside Ways.
