Guisborough Forest

(Average user rating5 unrated 4.1/5)

An attractive and diverse woodland mostly planted in the 1950's on the site of disused extensive mineworkings. Rocky outcrops at Highcliff Nab and Hanging Stone provide views over Teesside and the Eston Hills. It is a perfect place to walk, ride or cycle with access up on the moors and beyond.

How to get there:

Guisborough is the nearest town or village.

By Road. From Guisborough take the A171 west to the A173. Follow the A173 for 300 metres and look for the entrance to Guisborough Forest and Walkway Visitor Centre on the left side of the road.

On foot. Access on foot can also made via Belmangate and Butt Lane in Guisborough and via Hutton Lowcross village.

Great to have a cafe on the site although would have preferred a community based option (cheaper for families visiting) rather than a franchise. The site is getting better all the time, altough the loss of the shop is sadly felt - nice for children to visit and spend their pocket money after walking/biking through the forest and ponds.
