Wildlife at Noble Knott

The quiet car park at Noble Knott, with its fine views across the River Derwent to Skiddaw and Dodd Wood , is the starting point for two waymarked trails. From Noble Knott you can walk a circular route to the summit of Grisedale Pike (790m asl) or simply enjoy a family picnic before heading further up the pass to the Visitor Centre.

Mammals: We have information about Red squirrel and Roe deer

Birds: Watch the amazing Ospreys on a live video nest camera at Whinlatter Visitor Centre from April to Late August annually, 7 days a week from 10am until 5pm daily. During this period Osprey project staff will be on hand to help visitors enjoy these fascinating birds of prey as they raise their young overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake. How to get there:
Road:-
From Keswick: Take the A66 west towards Cockermouth. At Braithwaite turn west onto the B5292 for Lorton. Follow Visitor Centre Sign Posts.

Bus from Keswick.
Train:-
Nearest station is Penrith (25 miles east) on the west coast mainline.
