About Gwydyr Uchaf

 Gwydyr Uchaf

A Wynn Wynn situation

The Wynn family of Gwydyr Castle have greatly influenced Gwydyr
and the surrounding area since medieval times. Sir Richard Wynn of Gwydyr Castle built the building in front of you in 1604 as a summerhouse. The Wynns also built the chapel next door as
a private chapel for the family in 1673. Sir John Wynn built Gwydyr Castle, just down the road from here, in the 15th century. The Wynns used the surrounding forest for hunting. Today the forest is available for everyone to enjoy.

You can enjoy great views over the Conwy Valley on the waymarked walk from here.
