(Average user rating5 unrated 5/5)

About South Rannoch

This extensive forest contains a wide range of trees including fine remnants of the ancient forest that once covered much of Scotland.

The most notable of these is the Black Wood of Rannoch, a Caledonian Forest Reserve, which is further west and supports a vast array of plants, insects, birds and animals.

How to get there:

South Rannoch is part of Tay Forest Park. Kinloch Rannoch is the nearest town or village.

South Rannoch is two miles west of Kinloch Rannoch on South Loch Rannoch road.

Loved the wood. We walked in by Black Wood Cottage. Who was Gunnar Godwin? It would be good to know something of the history of the wood and how it has managed to remain in such good condition.

Been here, done this? What did you think?
