Balblair

This is a mixed conifer forest. Two walks start through a lovely area of straight stemmed mature spruce, larch and pine planted in 1931. The shorter loop has fine but limited views over Kyle of Sutherland before reaching a small recently restored pond. This pond is a haven for insect and bug life, see if you can spot the newts! The longer walk is a little more work yet offers the finest views towards the Carbisdale Castle and down the Firth to Struie Hill.

How to get there:

Bonar Bridge is the nearest town or village.
OS Grid Reference: NH 603 930

From Bonar Bridge take the A836 west for about one mile then turn right following FE signs for the forest.
