Auchteraw

Auchteraw is a mixed, planted conifer forest on the slopes above Fort Augustus and along the banks of the River Oich. On the upper reaches, where General Wade's Old Military Road heads towards Glenmoriston, there are panoramic views of the south end of Loch Ness and the Great Glen.

How to get there:

Auchteraw is part of Great Glen Forest. Fort Augustus, Invermoriston, Foyers, Drumnadrochit, and Inverness are the nearest towns or villages.

From the A82, at or just north of Fort Augustus, follow the unclassified roads through Jenkins Park and a further half a mile to Auchteraw.
There is a bus service from Inverness to Fort Augustus which will also stop on request at suitable stopping places.
