Rotten O'Gairn
Rotten O'Gairn is a wood planted on the gentle slopes of Gairn Hill. The main tree species are beech, Scots pine, larch and spruce.A waymarked circular walk leads out from the car park, and a waymarked horse route provides access to the northern part of this wood.
Rotten O'Gairn wood joins onto Countesswells wood, allowing for a longer walk.
Please note that Countesswells wood will be closed from 14 April for 2-3 weeks for harvesting work. No access will be permitted into Countesswells during this time.
How to get there:
Rotten O'Gairn is part of Aberdeen Woods. Garlogie, Kirkton Of Skene, Kingswells, Westhill, Hazlehead, Peterculter, Bieldside, Milltimber, Cults, and Aberdeen are the nearest towns or villages.
If driving on the A944, turn south along the unclassified road at the Kingswells roundabout, turn right at the T-junction, follow the road for roughly 2 km then the forest car park is sign posted on your right.
If you are driving on the A93, turn north along the unclassified road north at the junction beside Bieldside church, turn left at the T-junction, follow the road for roughly 1.5 km then the forest car park is sign posted on your right.
