Main entrance
 

A short section of tarmac leads you into three parking areas and the central activity area for this wood. The first car park you approach is suitable for the all ability trail and easy access to the Forest Centre. Travelling on to the second and largest parking area you are well positioned for all the children's play areas. The final car park takes you further into the wood and is perfect for the large picnic area near Timberline adventurous play area.

Walking trails

    Alice Holt Woodland Park is an ideal place for a walk in the woods. You can follow the waymarked trails or walk your own routes. There are four waymarked trails including the Easy Access Trail, which is suitable for wheelchair users, and the Habitat Trail, which is particularly popular with families. A map of the wood is available at the Visitor Centre.

Cycling trails

    There is a popular waymarked family cycle trail through the Woodland Park. Forestry Adventure offer cycle hire facilities during weekends and school holidays. Based near the visitor centre they have a full range of cycles for all abilities (for more information see the link on the right or phone 01420 520523).

How to get there:

Farnham is the nearest town or village.
OS Grid Reference: SU 807 416

From the A31 turn off at Farnham onto the A325. Stay on the A325 for approximately 3 miles.From Portsmouth and Petersfield take the A325 towards Farnham. At the Halfway House Pub on the A325 turn off the main road following signs for the Woodland Park. The entrance is 300 yards along this road on the left.
The nearest station is at Bentley. From here you can walk through Alice Holt Forest to the Woodland Park along public rights of way.
Alternatively take the train to Farnham and catch a bus to the Woodland Park.

The Forest Centre / Cafe is open every day from 9am to dusk.

Refreshments

The Cafe on site provides hot food, hot and cold drinks, snacks and ice creams.

Other Facilities

Three very different play areas provide a challenge for all ages. Timberline ,provides older children with an assault course made of ropes, poles and chains suspended from the trees. Playwood, designed for younger children offers a stimulating experience themed on the forest. Finally the Habitat trail takes visitors on an exciting route around the forest punctuated with unusual play structures representing the creatures of the forest.

HorseRiding.gif There are a number of suitable routes for horse riders within the Woodland Park. A permit is required by all horse riders who wish to ride in the wood. Please contact TROT on 01622 735599 to apply for a permit (for more information see the link on the right of this page).
Educational Our Education Service offers a wide range of programmes of study for all ages from pre-school to post 16. The pre-school and primary programmes - Welcome to the Woods, Super Sensations, Tremendous Trees, Forest Homes, Marvellous Maps, Fantastic Forests, Planet Earth and Team Tactics - have strong National Curriculum links. Team Tactics is also suitable for all ages for any group that wishes to develop teamwork skills. At Secondary and Post 16 levels programmes are particularly relevant for geography, biology, environmental science, and leisure and recreation students. The emphasis is on involvement and learning through personal experience and study. Programmes can be tailored to meet specific requirements. The Education Service at Alice Holt has become very popular with a record number of visits. Schools and Colleges are advised to book early.
Fishing Permits are available through Farnham Angling Society.
Wildlife Activities Alice Holt is home to a wide range of wildlife including insects, birds and mammals, bats and roe deer, green woodpeckers and squirrels to name but a few.
Orienteering Maps for the permanent orienteering course can be purchased from Forestry Adventure (01420 520523).
Barbecue There are 3 bookable BBQ pitches on site, which can be hired between 10am-3pm or 4pm-close (summer months only). Please contact 01420 520212 / 23666 to check availability and to book.

Playwood, designed for younger children offers a stimulating experience themed on the forest. Finally the Habitat trail takes visitors on an exciting route around the forest punctuated with unusual play structures representing the creatures of the forest. The 3D Maze is a recent addition to the Woodland Park and is spread over 4 levels.
Other Activities Forestry Adventure offer archery, a climbing wall and inflatable cabin during weekends and school holidays. Based near the visitor centre they also have a full range of cycles for all abilities to explore the depths of the forest. 01420 520523
