Ramscombe

(Average user rating5 unrated 5/5)

A 2km drive along the forest tracks deep in to Great Wood brings you to Ramscombe, a particularly picturesque area of the wood and an ideal spot for a picnic. Here you will find toilets, barbeques and picnic tables (some are even specially designed for wheelchair use).

Ramscombe is the best place to start your day's activities whether it is a day of walking, cycling or horse riding.

The car park currently opens at 7am and will be locked at 6pm daily.

Parking charges apply.  Cars - £1 for up to 2 hours or £2 for all day.  Minibuses - £4.  Coaches - £8.

Regular visitors can save money with a Discovery Pass.  £20 gives free parking all year as well as a range of other benefits.  Visit www.forestry.gov.uk/pass for more details.

The Forestry Commission shares a ranger with the Quantocks Hills AONB - Andy Harris.  Andy writes regular blogs, which often include news and information about Great Wood.  To read these visit http://www.quantockhills.com/blog/

**Please note that the toilet block is closed until further notice due to severe fire damage.  Temporary facilities are now in place.  Apologies for any inconvenience.**

A wonderful spot, but it would have been useful to know that the forestry commission has now deemed it necessary to charge for the car park which has been free for years with no mention of it on this web page.
