Hepburn

This area has a long history dating back thousands of years. Prior to Forestry Commission ownership(1946),the land belonged to Chillingham Park Estates and before that was part of an estate which dates from Norman times. The remains of a hill fort on Hepburn Crag suggest people have inhabited this site for at least 4000 years. Today, from this natural vantage point, the steep sandstone crags give stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
