Blakehopeburnhaugh is at the northern end of the Kielder Forest Drive and consists of two picnic areas, a toilet block, waymarked walking route and access onto the Pennine Way long-distance footpath.

PLEASE NOTE THE TOILET BLOCK WILL BE CLOSED FROM 1ST NOV. UNTIL 1ST APRIL 2011

How to get there:

Blakehopeburnhaugh is in Kielder which is part of Kielder.
Signposted to Kielder Water and Forest Park off the A68, between the villages of Byrness and Rochester.
Byrness is the nearest town or village.

Walking
There is one marked walk and from here there is good access to the Pennine Way.
Hindhope Linn
Fishing
Fishing is allowed in the burn however a licence and permit are needed.Licences are available from most post offices and permits are available from Kielder Castle.
Camping
Access is available from this picnic site to two backpacking sites within the forest.
Wildlife Activities
A bird hide can be found along a track just off of the picnic site.
Barbecue
BBQ stands are provided on some picnic benches.
Play Area
There is enough spacec for playing ball games at this picnic site.

Kielder Castle Visitor Centre is now open.See link to Kielder Forest Drive for opening times.There are three large picnic areas to choose from and ample car parking space. Blakehopeburnhaugh toilets are now open.
