About Hopton Wood
Woodland closed. Under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act.
Hopton Wood is closed Monday to Friday for public safety due to forest operations. This closure notice does not effect the public rights of way. We apologise for any inconvience.
Hopton Wood lies amid the glorious scenery of South Shropshire Hills, it is a coniferous woodland and covers an area of 350 hectares.ere you will find 32km (20 miles) of forest roads, tracks and single tracks covering the woodland. It's varied terrain offers leisurely or exciting mountain biking to suit all levels of cycling ability. Colour coded routes make picking suitable routes easy.
Plans are afoot to revamp the trails at Hopton. Changes will start taking place in August alongside forest harvesting. Please take note of safety signage on site.
How to get there:
Hopton Wood is part of The Marches. Hopton Castle is the nearest town or village.
Hopton Wood is situated eight miles west of Craven Arms, off the B4385 to Clun adjacent to the village of Hopton Castle.

The downhill tracks in this woodland require a degree of expertise. Come properly prepared with safety equipment and a well maintained bike.:Blue Family Route Closed:Hopton Wood cycle trails are currently undergoing improvements. We are restructuring and re-routing the trail to construct one continuous waymarked trail. For your own safety could please observe all warning signs and refrain from using the blue family route. Phase one should be completed by spring 2010. |
