Coarse Fishing in the New Forest

Coarse fishing is available at Hatchet Pond and Little Hatchet in the New Forest.

A variety of fish can be caught here including, Roach, Bream, Tench, Carp, Pike, Pearch, Eels and Rudd.

The fishing season runs from 16th June to the 14th March.

 A Forestry Commission fishing permit is required along with an Environment Agency rod license for fishing at Hatchet Pond or Little Hatchet.

Forestry Commission fishing permits are available as  Day, Weekly  or Season tickets.

Day and Weekly tickets are available from the following outlets:

  • The Queens House, Lyndhurst ( Forestry Commission office, Mon-Fri 9am - 3pm)
  • Roundhill Campsite, Brockenhurst
  • Tightlines Angling Centre, Totton
  • East Boldre Post Office, East Boldre
  • Poingdestres Angling, Shirley
  • Loni's Angling Centre, New Milton

To purchase your season ticket you can either :

Pay in Person  at our office in Lyndhurst (SO43 7NH) during office hours which are Monday - Friday 9am - 3pm. You can pay by credit/debit card, cash or cheque.

Phone: Please call us on 023 8028 6840 during office hours to pay by debit or credit card over the phone.  Your season ticket will be posted out to you.

When purchasing your season ticket please have your EA Rod License to hand.

Coarse Fishing in the New Forest is in New Forest.
By car: from Beaulieu take the B3055 towards Brockenhurst, Hatchet Pond car park is situated on the junction with the B3054.
Beaulieu is the nearest town or village.

please could you tell me why janesmoor pond is no longer a u17 fishing lake as i was very disappointed when i took my daugter there to teech her how to fish (as my father did with me) and it was closed

Sorry,its me again, just in response to a previous post regarding a male swan with a hook embedded in its leg, this was obviously an accident,surely! I dont know any fellow angler that would purposely try and catch a fully grown swan, thats cruel and malicious and isn't acceptable!

I haven't fished here before but would very much like too, im just wondering what my reception will be from nature lovers and ofher fisherman. It seems rather 'clicky clicky' here. I dont know why we all can't get along and enjoy the great outdoors the way god intended it. Thanks for listening to my rant.

* Please use barbless hooks only
* No surface floating baits to be used
* Anglers may fish from 1/2 hour before sunrise and 1/2 hour after sunset
* Only dead marine fish should be used as bait for pike fishing
* Please use a landing net and unhooking mat when when handling caught fish
* No keep nets or lead weights to be used
* Boilies may be used in moderation
* Fish live in water - please put them back immediately
* The use of radio controlled boats is not permitted.
* Please retreive broken casts as they may cause injury to wildlife
* Please take all litter home with you including bait and tackle
