I am a proffesional cycle trail builder and have been building for years now. I have built a couple of Dh tracks and some singletracks in the forest but they seem to get knocked down, now i understand that these trails can sometimes get annoying because all the little kids go out and build there own stuff and leave litter and damage the suroundings but please try not to destroy them! I try my best to keep my trails away from the main fire tracks so there out of peoples way, i also leave no trace like litter etc.. I respect the enviroment, yeild to others, and never scare the animals. I know that the foresrty commission doesnt like the trails being built but us as riders are only out to have fun and so are you as walkers, horse riders. I know its not my land so you can do what ever you wish but please...
Thank you :)

As a horse rider with a permit to ride in this wood I am interested that noone has replied to the query on 17 Feb about new fencing. My friend and I rode through this area this morning and were very concerned to find the new gates are spring loaded and have high lever handles a combination which is very dangerous for riders as it can so easily get caught round reins or bridle. Sure enough when negotiating our fourth gate this is what happened to my friend's horse which panicked and broke its bridle. Thankfully neither were injured. Please think again about the design of gates you are installing.

The trees are cut down because it is a working forest. I live nearby and regularly walk through the forest and see the changes. Where trees are cut down the land is left fallow for a little while and then new trees are planted; so, at any given time, there are areas of mature trees, growing trees and newly planted ones.
