Haldon Gateway

(Average user rating5 unrated 4.5/5)

A wooded car park with plenty of room for parking and with access to 30 miles of trails, available for you to explore on foot, by bike, or on horseback.

Beside the Gateway Car Park is the 'Hub', where you will find the start of many of the trails, a play area, toilets, a shower, and the Ranger's Office & First Aid post. A short distance away you will find picnic tables dotted amongst the trees allowing you to enjoy a picnic after your day out. You will also find:

The Centre for Contemporary Art & the Natural World. Part gallery, part studio, with exhibitions and regular live events and activities. Call 01392 832277 or visit www.ccanw.co.uk for more information and opening times.

Forest Cycle Hire can be found in the Hub, near the Ranger's Office. Call 01392 833768 for bookings and information or visit www.forestcyclehire.co.uk.

Go Ape! Take to the trees and speed down zip slides. They’re part of an exciting course of rope bridges, Tarzan swings and crossings; all set high above the forest floor. Call 0845 643 9215 or visit http://goape.co.uk for booking and more info.

The Ridge Cafe serves a range of locally sourced, organic, fairtrade food and drink.

How to get there:

Haldon Gateway is in Haldon Forest Park.
Travelling by car turn off the A38 at Exeter Racecourse and follow the signs for Haldon Forest Park. The Haldon Gateway Car Park is signposted further along the road on the left.
Please don't use our postcode in your Sat Nav! It will take you to the Forestry Commission Office and not the Haldon Forest Park visitor car park. Instead, carry on past the first gateway you see ('Office entrance only' is painted on the road there) and 200 metres on you will see the main entrance.
Exeter is the nearest town or village.

Celebrated a 9th birthday here today with a cycling party - a great success with both children and adults. We loved it!
