Jaguar Lount Wood

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

Jaguar Lount Wood is a new community woodland planted in 2001 and 2004. Much of the 72 hectare woodland has been planted with walnut tree species thanks to sponsorship from Jaguar Cars. The walnut plantations are part of an internationally important research project to study the growth of the European and American walnut species which is being carried out in conjunction with The Northmoor Trust and East Malling Research. The rest of the woodland is made up of native broadleaf trees such as oak, ash, wild cherry and lime with small areas of pine and larch. Jaguar Lount Wood forms a link between Bignall's Wood and Alastair's Wood via a permissive path along the old railway line past the privately owned Lount Wood. Walkers can vary the length of their route taking a short route just through Jaguar Lount Wood or making a longer route by joining onto Alistair's or Bignall's Woods.

A leaflet containing a map of the site is available to download here as a pdf.
