Staunton Harold Garden Centre Car Park

The entrance into Bignall's Wood can be found across the road from the garden centre car park. Here you will find the start of the surfaced cycle track which was funded by The Forestry Commission, Leicestershire County Council Shire Grant, The National Forest Company, Alliance and Leicester and East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA).

How to get there:

Staunton Harold Garden Centre Car Park is in Bignall's Wood which is part of The National Forest.
By road: Take the B587 and follow signs to the Ferrers Centre.
Lount is the nearest town or village.

No bins for poo because you supposed to do "flick with a stick" beautiful place for walking, i also ride my horse there but the gates are not very well suited for horses even though its a bridle pass. i have to get on and off all the time.. but it is very beautiful and quiet up there.

Lovely walking and no pooh or pooh bags discarded at all. Very quiet and nice views dogs all under control. Will go again vry soon.

There are two coffee shops and toilet facilities in the vicinity of the entrance to Bignall's Wood - in the Garden Centre and in the Ferrers Centre.

Other Facilities

A large garden centre, the Ferrers arts and crafts centre, Staunton Harold Chapel and Staunton Harold Hall and Estate are all accessible from the car park.

Cycling
A 3km surfaced cycle track starts from the car park and passes through Jaguar Lount Wood and exiting onto the B587 opposite Lount Refuse tip.:New for 2006! An extension to the surface trail takes from the entrance at Jaguar Lount Wood, along the disused railway through Lount Wood into Alistairs Wood, coming out onto the B587 just outside of Ashby de la Zouch.

Look out for one of six Noon Columns dotted across The National Forest. The Ferrers Arts and Crafts Centre is accesible from the car park.

The National Trust owned Staunton Harold Chapel is accessible from the car park.
