About Shabbington

Bernwood is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to the variety of butterfly species found there. As a mixed conifer and broad-leaved woodland it supports a wide range of flora and fauna. Ponds within the wood also increase the diversity of life found there.

How to get there:

Shabbington is part of Bernwood Forest. Oakley is the nearest town or village.

Bernwood is situated east of Oxford between Stanton St. John and Oakley. The carpark can be found at Grid reference SP 612 118.

Fly-tippers are quite difficult to catch. If you see it done the best thing to do is to take the number plate of the vehicle. Poor deer.

The car park entrance is very poorly signposted. But the forest is very peaceful

In the Waterperry wood area of Bernwood Forest there appears to be fly-tipping on the main drive, including food waste, plastic bags and balloons. There is also a fallow deer carcase which may have ingested some of this rubbish.
