Regional Woodland & Forestry Framework

In 2005 we consulted upon and developed a Regional Woodland and Forestry Framework with regional partners to shape our woods and forests for the future. The Framework helps set priorities and helps to target public investment in the South West.
Free to use, quality images of woodlands are available on CD to help organisations' promotional work. Please contact us if you want a CD.

Two groups have been established to drive the Framework forward.  These are:

Custodians: A group comprising key regional agencies at Board and Director level that have a direct interest in the success of the Framework and a direct ability to influence that success, its relevance and integration with other regional policies and strategies. Read a list of Custodians.

Delivery Group: A group charged with developing new activities and integrating existing work to deliver key elements of the Framework. This group is also responsible for monitoring and evaluation and reports to the Custodians. Read a list of the Delivery Group

Secretariat: The Custodians and Delivery Group are supported by secretariat work within the Forestry Commission with advice from GOSW and SWRDA.

Implementation Plan for 2009-12

In March and April 2009 consultation events were held with stakeholders and other interested parties to consider ‘refreshing’ and updating the Implementation Plan for 2009-12. Some of the presentations and notes from the workshops can be viewed here.

Based on the workshops and other consultative meetings a new Implementation Plan was published in September 2009. Any queries should be addressed to deborah.elton@forestry.gsi.gov.uk.
