About Sherwood Pines Forest Park

Sherwood Pines Forest Park is 3300 acres and the largest single tract of forest open to the public in the East Midlands.

The forest provides a great venue for many activities. The cycling facilities provide something for every one, from family cyclists to experienced off road riders. The way marked walking trails meander through some of the oldest parts of the forest, there are also many other tracks and trails to be explored.

There are several play areas to entertain the kids (both young and old!). The visitor centre has a cafe, toilets, cycle hire and Go Ape! the high wire forest adventure.

Please note the forest park closing times (on site) as we now operate contract closing for the forest park and a release fee will be chargeable for vehicles left beyond this time.

The forest will be closed to walkers and cyclists for a car rally on the 12th June 2010 and 20th November.

This year sees Simply Red and Keane taking ot the forest as part of our live music programme. For full details please click onto www.forestry.gov.uk/music

Old Clipstone and Edwinstowe is the nearest town or village.

Absolutely love Sherwood. Go 4 times a month atleast with my partner and dog and find it so relaxing. walkingor cycling, great when muddy get covered in it but it all adds to the adventure, anyone would be mad not to give it a try

There is something for everyone here.i have ridden here now for a number years and it just keeps geting better.there are 3 waymarked trails blue(easy your granny could ride this)grenn(med a good mix of fire roads) and red(hard lots of singletrack not to taxing).also if you dont want to stick to the marked trails there are of lots of little trails everywhere and dont worry about geting lost as your never more than about a mile from a fire road..There is plenty of parking a very good cafe and one of the most helpfull bike shop's in the east mids.

as i class myself as beginner to intermedaitte at downhill/freeriding iam little bit dissappointed at the building of the new bike park sections as they seem to be catering for the very good riders and not us people that want to have ago at small drops jumps and work our way up to the bigger stuff

Forestry Commission Response:
We have a skills loop, where you can try out jumps and improve your bike skills. This is close to the Visitor centre, a short way along the family cycle trail.

Forestry Operations

Please note the Forest Park will be undergoing a wide programme of forestry work in the first part of 2010. This will affect trails and walks; reinstatement will commence once these have finished.

Car rallies

The Forest Park will be hosting Car Rallies on the following dates in 2010 - 12th June 20th November. The cycle trails will be closed on this day and access is limited to the spectator areas.
