Responsible dog owners welcomed!

Jeskyns Dog Club mascot 1Jeskyns is a great place to have fun with your pooch. Why not join our free Jeskyns Dog Club and help us to promote responsible dog ownership?

What do other visitors say?

Why is there not a plan of the 'dogs on leads' zone available at the entrance. I walked around with my dog for ages looking for the 'off lead' zone hoping he could have a run playing fetch whilst my dodgy legs got a little rest. This was painful for me and frustrating for the pooch.

Sorry to hear that you had difficulty. There is a map showing the zones on the car park notice board and there are also usually maps in a dispenser by the kissing gate nearest the cafe. A map can also be downloaded from the "Dogs at Jeskyns" section of our website.

Forestry Commission Response

I am an early walker with my dogs, 🐕 🐩 🐶 I must say that 99% of dog walkers are responsible who I have the pleasure to meet. It is one activity of the day I look forward too. I haven't come across many 🚴 🚵 riders lately but the ones I have I find very inconsiderate of any one using the park. If you don't get out of their way fast you take the risk of getting knocked down or your dogs .

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. Our Rangers will continue to try to speak to anyone they see behaving irresponsibly or inconsiderately on site. This does of course include cyclists.

I take real exception to the comments by the cyclist above. There is a dedicated cyclo park across the road. Most of the cyclists are considerate of the other users but no doubt this is one who wants to use Jeskyns as a race track. By law dogs do not have to be muzzled unless a dangerous breed. During term time the dog walkers comprise 99% of the users Mon - Fridays. I would like to request more ranger time spent monitoring the speed and behaviour of the cyclists. Who will be paying parking fees? Not the cyclists! Can Jeskyns be everything to everyone?

Thank you for your comments. I would like to reassure you that our Rangers endeavour to spend as much time as possibe on site and always try to speak to any visitors that they see behaving dangerously or inconsiderately on site.
