I used to visit Jeskyns regularly with the dogs and organising dog walking parties. You recently have pay and display 1.50 for all day but most of us only come to walk the dogs for 1 or 2 hours. Will now be going to riverside country park Rainham and mote park. Will not be returning.

In the light of significant public funding cuts, we have to start charging for car parking to ensure we can continue to manage and maintain Jeskyns. Without raising this income Jeskyns cannot continue. Visitors can buy an annual pass for 30. This equates to 60p per week which we feel provides very good value for money for our most regular visitors many of whom are dog walkers.

Well my daughter and I have just returned from a walk at Jeskyns. We like Jeskyns because it is nice and open and, in particular because of the enclosed training area for our dog who has a bit of problem with selective hearing. I agree with a previous contributor that a dog poo bin would be a marvellous idea - I really cannot understand why people don't just pick it up anyway! Anyway I wanted to write and say that we decided to stop and have a drink and a Panini at the Caf and it really was delicious, well presented and didn't take too long to arrive. It's not the cheapest but I have to say it was really enjoyable and such a marvellous asset to have in a park like this. If you were to decide to open the caf into the evening during the Summer and maybe provide more more seating then I'm sure you would make an absolute fortune. Well done Jeskyns - it's so unusual to find a little caf that does decent grub!

Today in the training area I discovered a group / family of very small children being treated to a picnic!

Yesterday I arrived to find a family having a game of football and a separate group of children racing their bikes around the encloser.

This is the only enclosed part of the park reserved for the training of undiscipled dogs and probably the area with the greatest amount of dog faeces per square metre.

If the children's play area is (and should be) a 'dog free' zone, shouldn't the training area be a 'child free' zone before some child becomes chronically ill or hurt by a out of control dog?

How much would it cost to install a bin for faeces in this area? Could you re-locate a bin that does not see much use?

I am sorry to hear that you have encountered some inconsiderate people in the dog training area and appreciate how frustrating this can be at times. However, as most dog organisations state that all members of the family should be involved in the training and socialisation of the family pet, we feel that banning children from the training area would not be appropriate. Jeskyns is a busy site and in situations like this we have to rely upon the common sense of the majority of our visitors, but do appreciate that there will always be a minority who perhaps are not quite so sensible and that this can sometimes cause inconvenience for other visitors. With regards to the placement of a dog bin in this area, this is a good idea and is something that is being considered as part of our spending plan for this financial year if budgets allow.
