SIMPLY RED FOREST DATE
One of the most popular bands of the past 25 years, Simply Red, has announced a summer concert at Westonbirt Arboretum as part of the Forestry Commission’s live music programme for 2009.
Fronted by the unmistakable Mick Hucknall, a catalogue of hit singles like ‘Holding Back The Years’, ‘If You Don’t Know Me By Now’, ‘Stars’, ‘For Your Babies’, ‘Fairground’ and ‘Angel’ established Simply Red’s superstar status across the globe. Classic albums like ‘Picture Book’, ‘Men And Women’’, ‘A New Flame’, ‘Stars’ and ‘Life’ formed part of the record collection for a whole generation. The band has recently released ‘Simply Red: 25 The Greatest Hits’.
Commenting on their forest date, Mick Hucknall for Simply Red said, "We are really looking forward to performing at Westonbirt Arboretum. As part of our 2009 world tour, a spectacular woodland location will provide a unique experience for the band and fans alike."
The Forestry Commission is committed to taking woodlands to new audiences and making them relevant to people in new ways. The forest tour is self-sustaining, paying for itself, and providing valuable revenue to plough back into the woodland in a variety of environmental and social projects.
