NEWS RELEASE No: 9872

JOOLS HOLLAND'S WESTONBIRT CONCERT CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER

The Forestry Commission have announced that due to the extreme weather conditions and the amount of rainfall within the last few hours, tonight's concert by Jools Holland at Westonbirt Arboretum has been cancelled.

Arboretum Director John Weir said:
"It is a real shame, but the site is so wet that we can not ensure the health and safety of visitors, and that has to be our primary concern. We will be offering refunds on the tickets but will also be honouring tickets for Jools at the other concerts this weekend. The forecast is looking reasonably promising for the rest of the weekend, and we urge people still wanting a taste of the Forest Tour to come along and enjoy an enchanting evening in a unique setting".

On Saturday 21 July, Westonbirt will be hosting the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra in an exhilarating programme of all the traditional Proms classics culminating in a spectacular firework finale.

On Sunday 22 July M People, one of the most successful UK dance acts ever, will round off the 2007 Forest Tour, supported by Cicada, at this unique site.

It is not expected that the current adverse weather conditions will affect these concerts, but please keep checking our website for details at www.forestry.gov.uk.music

Those who purchased Jools Holland tickets who wish to attend the RCPO or M People concerts should bring their tickets to the box office marquee, on the night of the concert they want to attend, to receive a replacement ticket, and be refunded the difference of the ticket price.

All those who have bought tickets and do not want to attend the concerts on another night, can claim a refund on the price of the ticket. They should contact the outlet from which they purchased the tickets. Further details about the Forestry Commission's cancellation policy is available at www.forestry.gov.uk/music ."
