Forestry Commission Scotland is inviting children and parents to come and enjoy an Easter Eggstravaganza at Larbert woods.
Taking place on Friday 18th April from 11am to 1pm, the hunt is part of the Commission’s partnership with NHS Forth Valley to encourage greater use of the woods around Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
The hunt will involve running around the woods looking for hidden treasures and Easter prizes.
The Commission’s community ranger, Gordon Harper commented: “Easter time is when nature is coming back to life after the long winter, and we want to celebrate this with families from the area.
“The arrival of warmer weather is a great excuse to get kids outside and unhooked from TV and game consoles. Larbert woods is the perfect setting for exploring the green space on your doorstep, and kids will have a chance to learn fun things about the woods.”
Tom Steele, Director of Strategic Projects and Property for NHS Forth Valley, added: “The woodland is filled with a wide variety of bird and animal life and taking part in an Easter Egg hunt is a great way for children to learn about the beautiful grounds that surround our hospital.
“We hope this event will encourage them to come back and visit again, perhaps bringing the family dog for a walk or simply to learn more about nature and enjoy the fresh air.”
Gordon and other Commission staff will be on hand during the event to talk about the wildlife and trees and answer any questions children might have.
Meet the team at 11am in front of Old Larbert House. The cost to take part is £1 per child. No booking is required, please just turn up on the day.
There is a patient/visitor car parking at Forth Valley Royal Hospital and parking is also available at Lochview, off Larbert Cross.
