WOODS WALKS AND WILDLIFE (WYRE)
February events on the Forestry Commission's Wyre Forest.
The Forestry Commission organises hundreds of events each year and welcomes visitors all year round. Next month’s events programme in Wyre Forest offers something to interest adults and children alike.
Walk in the Woods – an ‘Active Woods’ event
Wednesday, February 2.
Join a gentle guided walk through Wyre Forest looking for winter wildlife and seasonal scenery. Meet at the visitor centre. The walk starts at 10.30am and last around two hours. Cost: £3 per person. There is no need to book.

Forest Friends – ‘Active Woods’ events
Every Thursday, February 3, 10, 17 and 24.
Forest Friends is a weekly club for pre-school age children and their parents or carers in Wyre Forest. There is a different fun activity each week. This could be a craft workshop, a wildlife-themed game, or a pushchair-friendly walk. Meet at the Wyre Forest Visitor Centre, at 10am. The activity lasts about an hour. Cost: £1.50 per child. No booking required.

Puppet Pals
Tuesday, February 15.
Come to Wyre Forest and learn how to convert an old sock into your very own glove puppet. 2pm to 4pm. Cost: £3.50 per child. This event is suitable for children aged five to 11 years old. Advance booking is essential.

Bird Feeders
Friday, February 18.
Bring the whole family to Wyre Forest and make seed, nut and fat feeders for your garden to help birds get survive the winter. Come along any time between 1pm and 3.30pm. Cost: £1.50 per child. This event is suitable for children aged five to 11 years old. There is no need to book.

Pottery
Saturday, February 19.
Dig clay out of the ground and then learn how to turn it into a useful or decorative pot on this special family workshop in Wyre Forest. Turn up any time between 2pm and 4.30pm. Cost: £2 for adults, and £1 for children. No booking required.

Deer Watch
Thursday, February 26.
Search for Wyre Forest’s elusive fallow deer on this special wildlife watch. There will be a short drive along forest roads to the wildlife observation hide. There you can look across the forest lawn where the animals emerge to feed at dusk. Wear warm, rustle-free clothing and bring binoculars if you have them. Meet at the visitor centre by 4pm. Cost: £5 per person. Advance booking is essential.
