Forestry Commission Scotland is undertaking thinning works at Lord Ancrum’s Wood from 16 March 2015 until 15 May 2015.
The thinning works, which will involve the selective removal of trees throughout the wood, are a vital part of the ongoing improvements and management of the woods and will create more space and light in the woods, which will benefit the flora on the ground, allow young trees to grow and improve the timber quality of the remaining trees.
Forestry Commission Scotland forester, John Ogilvie, said:
“The thinning works will open up the views within the woodlands and improve the overall woodland landscape along the paths.
“During the works, the wood will remain open for people to enjoy, but we advise visitors to follow all the on-site signage and follow any instructions from staff on site, for their safety. We hope our ongoing improvements to Lord Ancrum’s Wood will encourage more people to come and explore these wonderful woods.”
The works will take place Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm. During these times there may be trail diversions and closures for public safely. Outside of these times the trails will be open as usual.
