Tickets are now on sale for Enchanted Christmas at the Forestry Commission’s National Arboretum at Westonbirt, Gloucestershire.
Enchanted Christmas, Westonbirt’s signature winter event, inspires festive cheer with an illuminated one mile tree-lined trail through the arboretum. The spectacle takes place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening from Friday 29 November to Sunday 22 December.
The magical event will start with a big switch-on at 5pm on Friday 29 November. Real reindeer accompanied by two elves and Father Christmas will do the honour of switching on the spectacular lighting design.
Tickets cost £10 for adults, £8 for concessions and £5 for children. Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum get half price admission on Fridays.
The centrepiece of the event is a spectacular one mile illuminated trail highlighting the striking structures of Westonbirt’s trees lit up against the winter night sky. Each year a lighting design is created so visitors can experience different specimens, paths and vistas in the tree collection.
As well as enjoying the majestic beauty of the towering trees lit by thousands of festive lights, visitors can meet Father Christmas dressed in traditional green, along with festive stilt-walkers including Jack Frost, the Christmas Fairy and a very tall reindeer and join in with the carol singing performed by local choirs.
Festive market stalls will offer a wide range of food and drink including Moroccan street food by Exotic Tagine, hot chestnuts, hog roasts, toffee apples and a traditional sweet stall. There will also be the opportunity to get those creative juices flowing with a range of seasonal craft activities in the Learning Centre and purchase Christmas gifts from the range of festive products on sale in Westonbirt Plant Centre and Shop.
The Westonbirt Restaurant, run by Calcot Kitchens, will this year offer visitors the chance to enjoy a three-course festive meal when they take their stroll through the arboretum. The restaurant menu will only be available on certain dates, as outlined on the website, and costs £20 per head.
Restaurant bookings need to be made directly with the restaurant by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 01666 880064. The last available sitting will be at 20:00.
Tickets for Enchanted Christmas can be purchased from www.forestry.gov.uk/westonbirt-christmas, or by calling 03000 680400.
Enchanted Christmas will open at 17:00 to 20:30, with last entry to the trail at 19:15 every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from November 29 to Sunday 22 December.
